The 2024 Dodge Hornet starts a new era for the brand, joining the compact utility vehicle market with a mix of power and efficiency. This CUV (crossover utility-vehicle) has different versions to fit various tastes, from the capable GT all-wheel drive to the high-performance R/T. With its solid engines and sporty look, the Hornet ensures an exciting drive.
Trim Levels
The Hornet comes in four trim levels. The entry-level GT trim has 17-inch wheels as standard. It has a sporty look with its hood scoop and LED lights. The GT Plus all-wheel drive adds luxury touches such as 17-inch silver aluminum wheels and body-colored front and rear bumpers. The R/T version has unique badging, a powerful hybrid engine, an aggressive front, and a built-in air dam. The top R/T Plus model has 18-inch grey aluminum wheels, and driver and passenger heated mirrors.
Engine
This CUV has two strong engine choices. The GT has a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. This gives plenty of power for daily driving and highway motoring. The R/T version steps up the power with a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid system. This advanced engine produces up to 288 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. A unique feature of the R/T is its PowerShot function, which can briefly add 30 more horsepower.
Performance
The Hornet GT goes from zero to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, while the R/T hybrid achieves this in 5.6 seconds. Top speeds are also impressive, with the GT reaching 140 mph and the R/T topping out at 128 mph. All Hornet models come with all-wheel drive, which helps with grip and stability in various driving conditions. You can get a Track Pack with a unique suspension system if you want even better performance. You also have an option to upgrade to Brembo brake calipers and a unique braking system on R/T models, ensuring strong and consistent stopping power.
Interior
The Dodge Hornet has a roomy cabin that fits five people comfortably. Dodge designed the interior for comfort and technology, with a 10.25-inch touch screen that uses the Uconnect 5 system and a 12-inch digital display for the driver. You can get sports seats that add a touch of luxury and support. The GT models have 27 cubic feet of cargo space behind the back seats, which increases to 54.7 cubic feet with the seats folded down. The R/T models have less space because of the hybrid system but still offer 22.9 to 50.5 cubic feet.
Other interior features include two-zone automatic climate control, several USB ports, and an optional 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system.
Safety Features
The 2024 Hornet comes with a suite of safety components. These features include a forward collision warning, brake assist, four-wheel ABS, electronic stability control with anti-rollover, a blind-spot detection warning, parking sensors, and manual rear child safety locks.
