The new plug-in hybrid system produces up to 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, making the SUV immensely capable both on and beyond the pavement. When properly equipped, the Grand Cherokee 4xe tows an impressive 6,000 lbs.
The plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers a stellar manufacturer-estimated 56 MPGe. Drivers can take efficiency a step further and eliminate gas bills entirely by activating electric mode. The SUV offers a reliable electric range of 25 miles, which can be replenished by connecting the vehicle to an AC charger or by switching to hybrid mode.
Off-Road-Ready 4×4 System
The Grand Cherokee 4xe breaks new ground in off-road performance with a series of advanced 4×4 systems. Available Quadra-Trac II 4×4 features a two-speed transfer case that incorporates special sensors to detect tire slip nearly instantly, enabling the 4×4 system to quickly take corrective action. Meanwhile, the available Quadra-Drive II system features a rear e-LSD that can transfer 100% of the available torque to a single wheel when needed.
Water-Sealed Battery Pack
Electric and hybrid vehicles are typically vulnerable to water damage. This is because of the high-voltage battery, which is made of reactive lithium. In the Grand Cherokee 4xe, the high-voltage battery is water-sealed and protected with a reinforced housing, allowing the SUV to safely ford up to 24 inches of water.

The Grand Cherokee 4xe offers an available night vision camera that streams live footage of the path ahead on the instrument panel. The camera includes an infrared sensor that detects pedestrians and animals within 328 feet of the vehicle.
